Investing in People & Access
Building knowledge, creativity, and opportunity across Africa.
Zeitz MOCAA’s learning and access programmes shape the future of African museums. They develop professional expertise within the museum and open creative opportunities beyond its walls. Through these initiatives, we invest in people who lead, teach, and connect communities through art.
Empowering future museum leaders across Africa
The Zeitz MOCAA & UWC Museum Fellowship Programme
The Zeitz MOCAA & University of the Western Cape (UWC) Museum Fellowship Programme prepares the next generation of African museum professionals through a year of hands-on learning and academic study.
Each year, six fellows from across the continent join Zeitz MOCAA to work alongside the museum’s teams in curatorial practice, arts education, exhibition design, and institutional advancement.
In partnership with UWC, fellows also complete a postgraduate qualification that deepens their research, critical thinking, and leadership skills. The programme equips graduates to take on key roles in museums, galleries, and cultural organisations across Africa and the diaspora.

MOCAA on the Move brings art, learning, and imagination directly to communities.
Through this mobile museum programme, Zeitz MOCAA takes creative workshops, storytelling sessions, and arts education initiatives to schools, NGOs, and community spaces with limited access to cultural infrastructure.
By meeting people where they are, MOCAA on the Move helps bridge the gap between institutions and communities, nurturing creativity, curiosity, and confidence in young people across South Africa.
